About me
đź‘‹ Hello there!
I am an Assistant Professor at the Bellini College of AI, Cybersecurity and Computing, at University of South Florida, a AAU-ranked, R1 university, where I lead the Systematic sEcurity anAlysis and evaLuation (SEAL) research lab.
đź“– Background
I completed my Ph. D. at the Computer Science Department, William & Mary, Co-advised by Dr. Adwait Nadkarni and Dr. Denys Poshyvanyk. I researched on Security and Software as part of the SPL and SEMERU research groups. I used to teach at Institute of Information Technology, the pioneering software engineering Institute of Bangladesh. I have completed both my B.Sc. in IT (Major in Software Engineering) and M.Sc. in Software Engineering from the same Institute in year 2012 and 2014 respectively.
🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Personal
I am married with the lovely Prianka Mandal, who is also a pursuing Ph. D. at the William & Mary, since 2017. I became a father to a beautiful, healthy daughter in 2023. We named her Agnika (Born from Fire) Prisha (God’s Gift).
đź’Ľ Career
I started my career by working as a software engineering intern at Southtech Limited (was CMMI level 3 software company then, now CMMI level 5). Later, I joined M&H Informatics Ltd. (An IQVIA company) as a software engineer after graduation. Within a very short time, I was assigned to various projects and was selected to lead the company team at Code Warriors’ Bangladesh - industry level competition. After a while, I was offered a position at Academia, and I switched to become a Lecturer at IIT, University of Dhaka. More career details and publications are available [here] and [here].
đź’» Open Source Software
I have a keen interest in new technologies, experimental software engineering and practical possibilities of novel ideas. I sometimes look at pain points of day to day activities (mostly related to software engineering/computing); create simple, open source solutions as pet projects and share it with everyone through GitHub. My pet projects are referred/recognized in websites like OMG! Ubuntu! and by Microsoft MVPs sometimes. Some ideas end up becoming funded experimental software engineering [researches].
